Academy of advanced medical education is inspired by my teacher late Prof Dir Dr K C Mohanty. Encapsulated knowledge to each & every part of the world, to the remotest place on earth was his dream. It was in 1998 that I met him for the first time. Sitting in J J Hospital TB OPD, he was having his lunch. He asked me to sit in front of him. I had joined as the lecturer in the department of Chest & TB after completing my post graduation from LTMM College- Mumbai. What do you want to achieve in life? – Prof Mohanty asked me. “I want to be like you “is what I said. It requires a lot of sacrifice, a lot of compromise – of family life, personal life, and time – money & above all practice, He told me. And when I showed my willingness he groomed me. He gave me ample of chances to work under him & then over time to work with him. Less than 20 years & he taught me organize meetings, CMEs, workshops, conferences, round table meets. He taught me to talk & write. We did more than 25 national level programme. We organized more than 300 CMEs across the country. Multiple medical camps were done. More than 30 workshops we organized over last 2 decades. During his last conversation with me on 27th June 2017 he told me “show must go on...” He was at Lilavati Hospital on ventilator. He asked for pen & paper. We interacted for more than 20 minutes. He told me to continue the work that he taught me, he asked me to take encapsulated information in very concise form that gets easily palatable & is easy to understand & practice to the interiors of India & across the globe where ever required. I promised him & with satisfaction in his eyes he went off to sleep. He never recovered after that. He arrested on ventilator on 28th & left for heavenly abode on 30th June 2017. To carry on the work initiated by him on academic front, Academy of advanced medical education was formed within 3 months of his Instructions. Dr Bijal Vora, Dr Ketan Mehta, Dr Mangesh Tiwaskar, Dr Milind Nadkar & Dr Bhavin Shah, joined me in walking on Prof Mohanty’s footsteps.

Dr Ketan Mehta is general physician with special interest in cardio & diabetology. He has more than 25 years of clinical experience. He is attached to Asian Heart Institute, Suchak Hospital & Raheja Hospital. He has tremendous social activities to his credit. He has served various associations over last many years in various capacities. He hosted diamond APICON in Mumbai as the Org Secretary. He was president of Malad Medical Association & is currently the trust board member of Malad Medical association. He was on various posts at IMA – Mumbai west, has served Association of Medical Consultants.

Dr. Milind Nadkar has over 3 decades of teaching experience & is currently the Prof of Medicine at G S Medical College & KEM Hospitals – Mumbai. He has now 2 generations of students to his credit. He is the Chief Editor of JAPI – one of the most widely read indexed journal of Association of physicians of India. He has more than 20 original research works & has published more than 100 scientific papers. Dr Milind is favorite speaker & has special interest in rheumatology.
